Donald Dingwell, O.C.

Professor Donald B. Dingwell has been bestowed with Canada´s highest civilian distinction, the Order of Canada. As an Officer of the Order, Dingwell joins the ranks of ca. 2000 recipients of that distinction since its inception in 1967. The Order of Canada recognizes “a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation”.
Prof. Dingwell´s “contributions to the study of volcanology and for his leadership in promoting science and research in international public policy formation” are cited.
Professor Dingwell will receive his award at an investiture ceremony in Canada later this year from the acting Head of State and representative of the Crown, the Governor General of Canada.
This Canadian recognition of Professor Dingwell follows his bestowal with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesverdienstkreuz) in 2013.
