Prof. Dingwell named to the Selection Board of the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF)

Professor Donald Bruce Dingwell, Director of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences has been named to the Selection Board of the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF). The CFREF initiative, (which has some similarities to the German excellence exercise), will distribute 1.3 Billion Canadian Dollars in two calls over the next two years to Canadian research-performing institutions. The Selection Board consists of 8 members from the highest levels of experience in academia, industry and government. It will operate in the second and final stage of the selection process, following the evaluation of individual proposals by disciplinary panels. The Selection Board, ensures that the Fund supports initiatives on the basis of the highest international standards of research excellence, and that funding decisions take into account areas of strength, opportunity and relevance to Canada.
